Junior national champion Ruthvika Shivani have been given
top billing in the girls u-17 singles category of the Flypower Badminton Asia
Youth (U-15 and U-17) championship to be held in Kudus, Indonesia, from October
8-13.
The Gopichand Academy trainee is the firm favourite to bring
home the u-17 singles especially in the absence of any Chinese challenger in
the competition.
In fact, all the four Indian participants in the girls u-17
category have been seeded in the tournament for the first time ever with
Shreyanshi Pardeshi seeded third, Gujarat’s Anoushka Parikh sixth and ShuttleCraze
Academy, Mumbai’s Karishma Wadkar seventh.
In the boy’s u-17 section, the Indian challenge will be led
by fifth seed Chirag Sen with seventh seed Laa Talar, Daniel Farid and Rahul
Yadav completing the team.
