K Srikanth and RMV Guru Sai Dutt booked their berths in the
pre-quarterfinals of the Macau Open Grand Prix Gold badminton tournament in
Macau with facile wins, while even the doubles combinations gave a good account
of themselves on Wednesday.
Srikanth, who had upset ninth seed Alamsyah Yunus of
Indonesia in the first round, hammered Min Ki Kim of Korea 21-13, 21-11, while
Guru thrashed Po Wei Cheng of Chinese Taipei 21-10, 21-14.
In the women’s doubles section, the new combination of
Ashwini Ponnappa and Pradnya Gadre upset second seed Lok Yan Poon and Ying Suet
Tse 21-19, 21-19 to advance to the second round.
